Small Business Spotlight Vol 1.

Somehow I blinked and all the sudden it was the middle of March! I’m deeply sorry for my absence, I moved, I’m in the middle of launching several new projects, and I’ve been working everyday on top of all of that... and while everyday I’ve had the intention of bringing you new content, life just sometimes gets in the way.

If you are a regular reader here you know that I love featuring small businesses and hardworking people who are worthy of attention from our community... today is no exception and I’m thrilled to spotlight Merch Menagerie.

Merch Menagerie is run by my good friend Joe an avid collector of all things cool and former merch manager for all my favorite bands. Joe and I met way back in 2011 when I moved to the Bay Area, and I was slinging band tees and stickers for a mutual friend's band. One of the funniest people I know and a genuinely great person we became instant friends.

Joe recently opened a brick a mortar shop located in the historic Niles District in Fremont, California. He has an array of thriftiques ranging from band and sports memorabilia to vintage toys and unique gifts. Merch Menagerie is truly a one of kind business for the person who enjoys collecting or donning vintage wears.

If you are a collector and in the Bay Area, I urge you to stop by his store to check out some of his latest finds. Currently he is open by appointment only — strange times we live in but he also runs sales on his Insta stories and has an awesome eBay store (over 4000 sales and a 5 star rated eBay seller!) Once at Merch Menagerie head a few steps down the street to Mantiques/Toy Trauma where Joe has teamed up with friends Joseph and Micheal to don the shelves with other unique items for sale.

In today’s Covid world, small businesses are struggling and truly feeling the effects of this pandemic related recession, so its important that we remember to shop small and to keep our dollars in the hands of small businesses when we can. Recently Joe's store was damaged when a water pipe burst in his historic building so he is working double time to find new and innovative ways to bring you all his vintage and one-of-a-kind finds.
